Greetings,

As an ASK Email or Web Security Customer, you already know how incredibly powerful this suite of tools is in protecting you from spam, viruses, unwanted content, and spyware. You may not be aware of some of the recent product enhancements that provide even greater flexibility and security.

Track and Trace Product Announcement

Computer user

Track and Trace is a service that allows administrators to track their organization's emails that have passed through the ASK Email Security infrastructure in the last 30 days. As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing our products, ASK is pleased to announce a valuable enhancement to the Track and Trace service.

Administrators are now able to provide users access without granting them full administrator privileges. This will allow users to enjoy the same benefits of the Track and Trace service without opening them to configuration and administrative functions. If you have any questions, please contact your ASK Account Manager.

Email Content and Image Control Enhancement

Content and Image Control is the service that prevents unauthorized or inappropriate email use by stopping content or images that violate corporate policies.

As of June 18th, 2009, this service also includes document scanning support for PDF documents. This enhancement complements our existing support for popular Microsoft Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). This means that now in addition to scanning Microsoft Office documents, clients can also scan PDF documents against their control policies providing an additional area of enforcement.

Instant Messaging Security

In partnership with Message Labs, we are pleased to announce the forthcoming release of a new service - Instant Messaging Security Services (IMSS).

Public Instant Messaging (IM) clients such as MSN, Yahoo and AIM are increasingly being used in the work place - both authorized and unauthorized - to support collaboration and real time communication. Unregulated use of public IM clients however, exposes organizations to many risks including IM spam, malicious software, loss of sensitive data and breach of regulatory requirements.

IMSS from MessageLabs enables businesses to safely use public IM clients by wrapping a set of services around them to provide security and control. IMSS will provide:

  • Protection from viruses and other malicious software using commercial engines and real-time scanning from MessageLabs industry leading Skeptic engine
  • URL filtering to block links to inappropriate or malicious web sites being circulated via IM
  • Content Control to create IM policies that can help prevent the leak of sensitive information in IM file transfers or conversations
  • Logging of IM traffic ensuring a permanent record is kept to comply with regulatory requirements

The rising use of public IM clients in business, coupled with an increasing awareness of the dangers they pose will lead to more and more organizations looking for an effective and affordable way of controlling these tools. If you would like to learn more about IMSS and the new opportunities it could bring to your organization please contact your ASK Account Manager.

On behalf of our company, I want to thank you for being an Email and Web Security customer. If you have questions or would like assistance with any of these products, please contact your representative and they would be pleased to help.

Sincerely,

Mike Maddox
